A Machu Picchu Vacation Itinerary that combines the highlights of Peru in a fantastic 9 Day Package.  We start on the coast with a visit to Lima the Capital of Peru & a UNESCO World Heritage City.  You then enjoy an overflight of the mysterious Nasca Lines.

 

Visit the highlights of Cusco & the Sacred Valley of the Inca.  Visit Machu Picchu one of the Seven Wonders of the World for one or two days.  Take the First Class Tourist Bus to Lake Titicaca and visit the Uro people who live on floating reed islands in the middle of the Lake.

 

 

 

Enhancements

The trip by First Class Tourist Bus between Cusco & Puno (Lake Titicaca) is some 9 hours long although this trip is broken up by visits to several places of interest on route.  

 

Other options include a one hour flight or the Luxury Orient Express Andean Explorer Train, which is fabulous, but does add some $200pp to the vacation.  The price of the Luxury Train varies by season, please ask for details for your dates of travel.

 

For those interested in archaeology and Pre-Inca Civilizations adding a visit to Caral the oldest City in the Americas (both North & South America @ 3,000 years BC) which can be visited in a day from Lima, should also be seriousy considered.  

 

A further popular enhancement to this itinerary would be to add a day on the coast at Paracas for the Nasca Lines overflight.  On the morning of Day 3 you would leave Lima for the Nasca Lines overflight.  After the flight, rather than returning to Lima that same day you would overnight at the fabulous 4* Hilton Resort Hotel.  From here the most popular tours (on the morning of a new Day 4 are the Ballestas Islands and a tour of the Paracas Nature Reserve.  Then in the afternoon a Private transfer back to Lima.  From here the vacation continues as before.

Finally there is a fair amount of travelling in the first few days of this Itinerary, you may wish to consider adding a free day (or two) in Cusco just to relax and catch up with yourselves.  After all this is intended to be an enjoyable vacation and not a route march around Peru!
